As far back as I can remember art was very much part of my life…. drawing before I could walk art became a passion and a way of life. From being a toddler, if it stood still long enough it was drawn on. I showed no interest in school, a friend introduced me into the world of graffiti at the age of 12. The urban street life became the norm. Choosing art over education. My skills and style went from strength to strength building a reputation and talent in the graffiti world.

At the age of 16, I had an opportunity to start my own business in the art world. I set about opening my own company providing artwork, airbrushing and graffiti. which built up a client portfolio with customers such as Dr Martens, Harvey Nichols, Disney Stores, Clarion Hi-fi, Kenwood and Carling to name a few. I hit the world by storm winning many awards for airbrushing and design.

Once I had climbed the ladder of this creative world I was hungry for a new creative challenge. Hitting the floor running, I set out to perfect the art of tattooing. everyday learning and creating non-stop to give my clients the very best I can possibly give.

As an all-rounder with my artwork, I enjoy all aspects of tattooing . I love free handing . Some of my favourite things to tattoo are lettering, portraits, animas and I love putting a watercolour spin on things… I am well known in Huddersfield for creating stunning watercolour tattoos.

My tattooing so far has got me into magazines, newspapers and on TV. I have even tattooed some celebrities right here in Black Label.

I am more than proud to have taught Lady Bruce and Burt throughout their whole apprenticeships with Black Label . They have both proved , beyond doubt they are amazing artists . So luckily now there is more than just me to tattoo you, as these guys have all my skills plus youth on their side!! They are cut from the same cloth and are two of my proudest creations.

You will always find me running around the shop trying to keep these guys in check !! Sometimes winning, sometimes failing !! I’m usually at the desk and know the shop inside out. Anything you need give me a shout or do what the tattooists do and press the emotional support button and I appear from nowhere!!

I was always the kid at school who took an ice cream box full of pens !! Forever getting told off for dicking around with my pens !! I went on to study art and design at Huddersfield Technical College . Then on to get a 2.1 degree in fashion from Bradford University. So I could be really fancy and have letters after my name but that’s too posh for me!! I am very much a “what you see is what you get kinda girl”.

I am a fully qualified piercer, and I love to “Get Stabby” with people. I have been piercing for just over 6 years and have a wealth of piercing skills and information.

I have pierced customers from age 3 right up to 87 years old and I’m here for it all!! Because I’m in the shop every day means we can offer piercings everyday too which allows customers to be more confident of the service they will receive. Appointments are always advised as we do get busy .

I have stocked our jewellery up to the maximum, so even if you don’t want a new piercing , we will happily show you some of our gorgeous jewellery collection, including too much titanium to think of, 18ct gold, 14ct gold plus more. We have over 500+ pieces of jewellery to choose from …

All our initial piercings are done with implant grade titanium. as standard and always done with a needle, never a gun. We stock brands such as Neometal, Industrial Strength, Junipurr, Tish Lyon, TiCouture plus more.

I also have my own shop down in the basement called Funky Vinyl , that’s where I’ll be if I’m not sorting this riff-raff out. Funky Vinyl has been my baby for over 16 years. I just love creating , so wherever i am I’ll always be creating !! (Even if it’s chaos)

Everyone always asks me if I can tattoo… the answer is yes but it’s defo not for me . It’s wayyyy too much pressure for my liking.

Art has always been, and will always be , one of the biggest factors in my life. I’ve been drawing for as long as I could hold a pencil, I was always looking for an excuse to stay in and draw instead of going out as a kid. I seek escapism within my art, as I am able to become lost within it. I’ve had a clear idea of doing something with my art work from the age of 12, I am always grateful and happy for my place at Black Label , as I get to come to work everyday knowing it’s a good day filled with a homely shop of people I love and admire. The studio has become my second home, and I hope to expand that feeling of comfort and homeliness to our clients for a great experience.

I have been at Black Label from being 18 years old when I started my apprenticeship with them and I am currently the studios Junior Artist of the team, one of my favourite styles is American Traditional, Neotraditonal, and Japanese traditional. I have always been very inspired by these styles above all others, but I am always happy to try new and exciting ideas to create something special and unique for my clients that they are able to wear proudly.

Tattoos are more than just art work, they speak loudly about peoples experiences and hardships , and what people hold dearest to them , a large reason of why I was so drawn to becoming a tattoo artist was the creativity that goes into giving customers artwork they can be express truthfully on their skin. I am easy going and love to have a laugh , the kettle is always on in the studio and everyone is always welcome!

Reign also known as Lorraine, Dickhead, Gaston to name but a few of the names she responds to!!

Reign joined the team at just 8 weeks young back in 2020. She came all the way from “that there London”!! She’s not around the shop much as she used to be because she’s got a fair few asbo’s against her name already!! She likes heavy petting and smooches , ankle licking and pretending to be a parrot sitting on peoples shoulders . She is always pleased to see anyone and thinks everyone has come to see her and only her.

Once you walk through the door and pat her, you have a new bestie for life.
If you don’t like dogs , she will get the hint but you would have no choice but to love them crazy eyes she has . And yes she has one blue eye and one brown eye . Her eyes are as crazy as her!!!
